Introduction
Brand name: Gabaliv
Composition: Gabapentin + Methylcobalamin tablet
Gabaliv is a fixed‑dose combination tablet containing gabapentin (an anticonvulsant and neuropathic‑pain modulator) and methylcobalamin (the bioactive form of vitamin B12). It is indicated for the management of neuropathic pain and certain nerve‑related conditions, such as diabetic neuropathy, post‑herpetic neuralgia, and other peripheral neuropathies.
How it works
Gabapentin binds to the α2‑δ subunit of voltage‑gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and lowering neuronal hyperexcitability responsible for nerve pain and seizures.
Methylcobalamin supports nerve‑tissue repair and regeneration by promoting myelin synthesis, improving nerve conduction, and correcting functional vitamin B12 deficiency‑related neuropathy.
Typical use and precautions
Usual adult dose is commonly 1 tablet once or twice daily, adjusted gradually based on pain control and tolerability; exact strength (e.g., 300 mg gabapentin + 500 mcg methylcobalamin or similar) must follow local prescribing information.
